Hello Lovelies! Today I will be reviewing the Revolution Renaissance lipsticks and comparing them against the cult classic...Charlotte Tilbury. It is quite obvious that the packaging in meant to be a dupe, however today we will find out if the formula, performance and longevity of the lipstick is comparable.

Outer Packaging.
Both lipsticks are encased in a rose gold, ribbed metal packaging. Its gorgeous and vintage looking and looks stunning on my dressing table. The Charlotte Tilbury lipstick feels slightly heavier than Revolution and the shade name is a sticker on the bottom. The Revolution lipstick also has a sticker with the shade name on the bottom, however the bottom of the revolution lipstick is see through meaning you can see the shade. I prefer the packaging on the revolution lipstick as it is easier to see what shade you are picking.

Lipstick Bullet.
Charlotte Tilbury has two different style lipstick bullets depending on what formula you have chosen; The matte revolution or the K.I.S.S.I.N.G formula (a creamier lipstick.) On the other hand, the Revolution lipstick has the same style bullet for either formula. One complaint I have about the Revolution lipstick is that you don't know if you are getting the matte or the creamier style lipstick if you order online as there is no indication what style it is.

Also, the lipstick bullet on the Charlotte Tilbury matte lipstick (Above on the Right) is a lot better than the CT K.I.S.S.I.N.G lipstick and the Revolution Renaissance lipstick as it is flat on the top and makes it easier to get a precise line around your lips. With the Revolution lipstick and the CT K.I.S.S.I.N.G lipstick I feel more comfortable wearing a lip liner to make sure I have a smooth line.

Formula.
As I said previously, the CT lipsticks come in two formulas, as do the revolution lipsticks; Matte and creamy. However, I actually prefer both of Revolutions formulas over Charlotte's. Upon first application, both formula's feel the same. However, throughout the day I find my lips feel drier and flakey with the CT lipsticks, especially the K.I.S.S.I.N.G lipstick despite it claiming it has built in hydration. The Revolution lipsticks feel the same throughout the day, the matte formula stays light and powdery on the lips and the cream formula stays creamy and has a slight slip.

Swatches.
From the swatches you can see I have an obsessive with mauve, pinky nudes, but that is besides the point. The shade 'Renew' in the Revolution Lipstick is almost a dupe colour wise for Charlotte Tilbury's 'Secret Salma.' The only different is the CT is a matte lipstick where as the 'Renew' is creamy. Also, the matte shade 'Highness' from Revolution (Dupe of CT 'The Queen') performs smoother and more pigmented than 'Secret Salma.'

Application.
Both lipsticks look lovely on first application. Although, I find the CT Lipsticks 'Liv it Up' and 'Bitch Perfect' tend to settle into the lines of the lips. To try and stop this I find its best to apply the lipstick and then smooth it out with your finger or blot with a tissue. The Revolution Renaissance lipsticks do not do this on my lips neither do the other shades in the Charlotte Tilbury line.
Revolution: 4. Charlotte Tilbury: 2.
Longevity.
I find that both brand's lipsticks need to be reapplied after eating, and the creamier formulas need to be reapplied after drinking. However, I also find that the CT lipsticks don't reapply well as they cause flakes (even though I don't have dry lips) and the product build's up patchy. This can be stopped by completely wiping the lipstick off and reapplying but thats not convenient for me if I'm out and about.
Revolution: 5. Charlotte Tilbury: 2.
Colour Selection.
Both brands offer a wide range of colours suitable for many skin tones. Charlotte Tilbury offers 17 shades in the matte formula (as well as an additional 9 matte shades from the Hot Lips Collection) and 12 shades in the K.I.S.S.I.N.G formula (as well as an additional 3 shades from the Hot Lips Collection) making 41 shades to choose from!
Revolution initially offered 19 lipsticks to choose from (not stating which were matte and which were cream) then added an extra 4 shades to their line, but discontinuing some. Currently, there are 20 shades available on the Revolution Beauty website.
Revolution: 5. Charlotte Tilbury: 3.
Availability.
Charlotte Tilbury can be bought from her website, her stores across the country (I live in England) and in Fenwicks. I find with lipsticks I prefer to see them in person as the colours can appear different online than they do in real life. For example, I purchased the shade 'Bitch Perfect' online expecting a warm toned peachy-pink nude, however when it arrived it was a very orangey, almost yellow nude on my skin tone and not very flattering. The Revolution Renaissance lipsticks are available from Revolutionbeauty.com and Superdrug.com however I can't seem to find them in my local Superdrug store, making choosing the shades very difficult as the photographs are extremely different to the actual colours.
Revolution: 5. Charlotte Tilbury: 4.
Price.
The price of the lipstick is vastly different. The Charlotte Tilbury lipstick is £24.00 per lipstick, where as the Revolution lipstick is only £4.00 meaning you could get 6 of the Revolution lipsticks for the price you would pay for one Charlotte Tilbury. Also, Revolution is often on for 3 for 2 at Superdrug which would make it even more bang for your buck.
Revolution: 6. Charlotte Tilbury: 5.
Final Thoughts.
I would 100% recommend the revolution Renaissance lipsticks over the Charlotte Tilbury ones. This is because the Revolution lipsticks have scored where it really counts; Appearance, Longevity and Price. I would much rather pay for a lipstick that performs better than a lipstick that I can go and swatch in store, I'm also more likely to take a bit of a risk with colour choice in the revolution lipstick as I know its only £4.00 if I don't like it rather than £24.00.
Let me know what you think!
